James Mesnard graduated with distinction from the Virginia Military Institute in 1975. He was then an infantry officer in the U.S. Army for six years. After leaving active duty Mr. Mesnard attended the University of Maryland School of Law graduating in 1985 with distinction. He was the attorney advisor for the Chief Administrative Law Judge at the U. S. Department of Labor in 1985 and 1986. In this capacity Mr. Mesnard assisted administrative law judges in writing decisions in contested cases. Mr. Mesnard joined the Washington, D.C. office of Seyfarth Shaw, LLP in 1987 and remained there for over 30 years. Mr. Mesnard joined the Postol Law Firm at its founding in March 2018. Since 1987, Mr. Mesnard has defended employer and insurers in hundreds of cases arising under the Longshore and harbor Workers’ Compensation Act, the Non-appropriated Fund Instrumentalities Act and the Defense Base Act. Mr. Mesnard has also successfully defended employers in employment discrimination and wrongful termination cases and other civil litigation matters in state and federal courts. He is a member of the Maryland and District of Columbia bars. Mr. Mesnard is also a member of the bars of the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the D.C., Third, Fourth and Ninth Circuits and the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Mesnard also presents audio conferences several times each year on disciplining and terminating workers’ compensation claimants and defending workers’ compensation claims.


Joshua Obszanski is an Associate at the Postol Law Firm, P.C., focusing his practice on workers compensation defense and civil litigation. Josh is a 2019 cum laude graduate of The George Washington University Law School. Josh graduated with distinction from Indiana University with dual majors in Microbiology and Political Science, and he is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He is a member of the District of Columbia bar.

Carol A. Conroy is an Associate at the Postol Law Firm, P.C., focusing her practice on workers compensation defense and civil litigation. Carol is a 2020 graduate of The George Washington University Law School, where she was an Articles Editor for the Federal Circuit Bar Journal and a Student Attorney for the Housing Advocacy and Litigation Clinic (formerly DC Law Students in Court). Carol received her undergraduate degree in Public Health and minor in Spanish from the University of Georgia.

Cathy Lee is an Associate at the Postol Law Firm, P.C., focusing her practice on workers compensation defense and civil litigation. Cathy graduated in 2020 from The George Washington University Law School, where she was the Editor-in-Chief of the AIPLA Quarterly Journal. Cathy received her undergraduate degree in Classical Studies from The Johns Hopkins University in 2014.
