Lawrence Postol for 33 years was a partner at Seyfarth Shaw, LLP, in its Washington, D.C. office. On March 1, 2018, he started his own law firm, 5 minutes from his home in McLean, Virginia.
Mr. Postol defends companies and insurers in employment law matters and workers' compensation defense, primarily under the Longshore Act and Defense Base Act. Mr. Postol graduated from Cornell Law School, cum laude, in 1976, where he was an editor of the Law Review. Mr. Postol received his undergraduate degree in engineering physics from Cornell University in 1973, graduating with distinction.
Mr. Postol has successfully defended against claims for race, sex, age, national origin, and disability (ADA) discrimination, as well as SOX and Dodd-Frank whistleblower claims. Mr. Postol has also defended OSHA claims, environmental and toxic tort claims, as well as general civil litigation. Mr. Postol provides employment law counseling to several corporations, large and small. Mr. Postol for many years has been and continues to be listed in Super Lawyers, Who's Who In American and Who's Who In American Law. Mr. Postol for over a decade was on the Board of Directors of the SHRM DC and NOVA chapters, and continues to be a speaker at their programs. Mr. Postol has written two books and published dozens of articles on employment law and workers' compensation defense.
Mr. Postol is admitted to practice in Virginia, DC, Connecticut, and the federal court in Maryland, as well as several U.S. Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Postol has successfully argued two cases before the United States Supreme Court and as well as over three dozen cases before United States Courts of Appeals.
